KUMBA SEDDU

PhD Candidate | STEM | Science Communication | Public Health | Founder

About Me

Kumba is passionate about impacting our world.

I am an immunologist and a public health leader with almost a decade of experience exploring how the immune system responds in health and disease, with a focus on the vital role of regulatory T cells in maintaining immune balance. I collaborate with scientists to build one of the world's most rigorous and in-depth gene expression and regulation profile of the immune system. Our comprehensive dataset, the Immunological Genome Project, is available at immgen.org and through the ImmGen app, can benefit other researchers and public health professionals who are interested in understanding the immune response.

I am a PhD candidate and an Editorial Board Member at Africa CDC’s Journal of Public Health in Africa (JPHIA) where I contributes to shaping research across the continent, strengthening health systems, and advancing cross-continental research collaboration and equity to address health challenges while supporting research scholars. My work remains focused on expanding our understanding of immune responses and mentoring the next generation of scientists and public health leaders. Above all, I am a person enabled by Grace.
